Who's Who?

Here you will find out more about who is involved with 18u and what we all do...

Our three Child Protection officers are Laurie Matthew, Sandra Hutton and Karen Duffy.

Laurie Matthew

I am the International and National Manager of 18u. I form partnerships with agencies all over the UK and abroad and am now working to get VIP translated and out across the world. I do lots of fundraising, training and talks. I also support abuse survivors and have been doing this for a long, long time.I am studying a post-graduate Masters degree in child protection @ Dundee University as I like to keep my brain trained.
I live with my partner, Sandra in Carse of Gowrie in Perthshire and my fave thing is pottering in my garden. My children are all grown up but I have grandchildren to play with now. I have a gentle Golden Retriever called Sithe and a crazy Siamese cat called Bandit.

Keiran Watson

Hey, my name is Keiran and I am the promo guy for Eighteen And Under with a special emphasis on the VIP programme. I’m from Dundee and I’m 24, I like fast cars and bikes (typically lol) – (but I do actually own 1 of each!).
My other interests are archery, sailing, music (I play piano and guitar) acting/drama. Other hobbies include attempting to sum up my life in 100 words, depressingly easy actually!
I guess I’m known as the man of the office; and everyone loves my cocky go get them attitude (ha!) My motto is – if you can do it so can I, but just cause I can do it doesnt mean you can!.

Shaun Taylor
Hello, my name is Shaun Taylor and I will have been working full time at Eighteen And Under for 3 years as of Feb 2010. I have also volunteered with the organisation prior to my full time position since 1999. My 30th birthday was on 31st December 2009.
My hobbies include reading (this includes fictional crime novels & books that Sandra Hutton loans me from time to time), watching sports on television like Tennis, Golf and Snooker but not playing them (I have poor hand eye co-ordination and because of this I am incredibly unfit!).
I don’t drink alcohol (as of New Year 2010) or smoke but one of my bad habits would be never getting straight to the point, rather baffling endlessly about things and losing track of what my initial point was – just like now!.
I volunteer with Izzy’s Promise, Eighteen Plus and Different Visions Celebrate (DV8) and you can find out more about these organisations if you click on the links on the Eighteen And Under website.
Katy Wingham

Hi. My name is Katy and I am a full time worker for Eighteen And Under. Most of my work involves delivering VIP sessions but I am also involved in promotions, support and anything else that needs to be done.

I have been with Eighteen And Under for three years now and the highlights most definately include our fundraising cycle along Hadrian's Wall as well as the fundraising parties and visiting the Houses of Parliament for the launch of 'See Us Hear Us'.

Jerri Watson

Hi I'm Jerri and I'm a full time support worker for Izzy's Promise and the Volunteer Coordinator for 18 & Under. I've also been a volunteer with 18u for over 15 years.

I have a 3 year old son who is now one of our youngest volunteers and did his part for the charity by cycling across The Tay Bridge and back, which was 3 miles. Needless to say, I was a very proud mum! I'm a cheery person and love to laugh and joke and make others happy.

Aileen Hunter

Hello I'm Aileen and I help out with the promotions and marketing stuff. I design all the websites and maintain them as a volunteer. I'm proud to have designed a lot of the promotional material and the VIP Resources too.

I am studying for my degree in Web Design and Development at Abertay University and when I have time and the inclination I play golf. Othewise I play far too many computer games than are good for me. I like to write too - stories, poems and books and I have a children's novel 'The Green Gang' which was published a few years ago.I have several books in me, but I'm saving them all up until I retire!

Sandra McIntosh

Hello. My name is Sandra. There are 2 Sandra's I hear you say, well I get called Sandra Mac. I started working with Eighteen and Under 7 years ago, looking after our Chairperson's little girl. Now having been to a lot of training, I am one of the Support Workers. I have done this for 4 years. I have travelled to support young people in Court as far as London. I also have lots of fun delivering the VIP (Violence is Preventable) programme.

I am lucky enough to be the mother of the up and coming President of Scotland. He is regularly seen walking about the office and offering advice to everyone. If you see me in the office, stop me and ask questions as I like talking too!

Sandra Hutton

Hi. I am a volunteer with Eighteen and Under. I can turn my hand to most things except support of young people. That part can be done by others who are more qualified than me. I am one of 3 Child Protection workers within the organisation, and try to keep up to date with the ever changing legislation. This means that you can ask my advice if you are not sure about a situation a young person may tell you. I also try fundraising and write letters out to smaller trusts telling them who we are what we do and ask for money to support us. Its very boring, but its one of these things that has to be done, otherwise we would not exist.

I also helped raise a lot of money with some of the workers when we cycled Hadrians Wall last year (2009).

Karen Duffy

I am Karen and I have been the chairperson of Eighteen And Under for the past 10 years. Every time I try to escape, someone, or something pulls me back in to help out. I am a Company Director but am also a volunteer who turns my hand to anything that is needing done and there is always something needing done.

I love Karaoke and am the finest of singers. I do not go on X Factor as there would be no competition. I would win! I am a mum and soon to be blessed with my first grandchild. yippee!

Irene Clark

Hi there, my name is Irene and I am the Dundee Office Manager. Apparently I’m the office rotweiller and my hair stands on end when I get stressed! Or at least that’s what all the rest in the office say I’m a big softie really but I just like kidding everyone.

I do lots of jobs at Eighteen And Under including all the boring financial stuff but my very favourite job is eating meringues at Balgowan Court when we do the Senior VIP. Everyone should have a job like that.

We should lobby the government!!!

Danny

DannyHello there my name is Danny and I am the new assistant promotional worker, I started in May this year so I am the rookie here and I am the only Yorkshire lad at 18 & Under. I have just finished studying at Abertay University so now I have a BA degree in marketing and business.

My hobbies and interests are boxing, rugby league and travelling. I have travelled all over the world eating lots of strange animals (so take caution when I am near your lovely pet... yum!). I have lived in Dundee for almost 5 years now and I love the place, its fab!

Marley Laurie

I have worked for 18u for the past 12 years at a variety of jobs. Currently I am part-time and on maternity leave. I have 2 small daughters, Kaya and Blythe who keep me really busy.

I am into drama, singing and entertaining audiences by appearing in Pantos and other fantastic productions. I am an author and also a poet and when I have spare time (lol) I walk the dog.

Barry Eggleton

Barry is one of the Directors of 18u and is also the Health and Safety officer. Barry works full-time and is a father of 2 small daughters.

Females rule the roost in Barry's house and he is well trained. Barry is into curling and volunteers back stage for Forfar Musical Society.

Tracy Murray

I am Tracy Murray, one of the directors of 18u.

I have worked as a sheltered housing manager for 6 years.

I have 2 kids age 3 and 8. I enjoy going on holiday either at home or abroad and also enjoy eating out.

Jaksyn Finlay
Born in 2007, Jaksyn is our youngest fundraiser and our best looking male volunteer. By age 2 he had raised over £5000 for our worthy cause by riding his bike over the River Tay. He is a keen bike rider and has even been seen riding his bike down the corridors at the office of 18u. Jaksyn also like cars and although he cannot quite reach the pedals yet, there is a rumour he has his eye on Keiran's red car.
Kaya Hunter

Kaya iwas also born in 2007 and has been volunteering since birth. She is keen on drama and acting and will no doubt soon be on stage with the reputable Dundee Junior Showtime crew.

Kaya likes books, toys, animals and everything really.

Kaya is Jaksyn's little cousin and she is keen to have a spin in that red car once Jaksyn aquires it.

Stephanie Vander Lugt

Hi, my name is Stephanie and I am the Resolve It Development Worker for Eighteen and Under. I just started working here this year and am really enjoying it! I am helping to create an international atmosphere here at Eighteen and Under since I am American, though I am trying to learn how to put on a good Scottish accent.

So far, my favourite thing about Eighteen and Under has been learning about the V.I.P. project and delivering sessions. I have lots of interests: travelling, cooking, singing, reading, running, dancing, pretty much doing anything that is adventurous. I live with my husband, Wes, in St Andrews.

Tom

TomHiya. My name is Tom. I am a chinchilla. I have a friend called Jerri who you will see below. Everyone in 18u loves me because I am very cuddly and friendly.

My favourite VIP resource is Bobby Blue because I am a very law abiding chinchilla who has a great respect for the police force.

Jerry

JerriHi, My name is Jerry and I share a cage with Tom. Please don't confuse me with Jerri the worker. She isn't as furry as me and she does much more actual work.

Not that I am lazy, I like to join in with the Tea in the Centre training sessions and learn all about preventing violence in every shape and form.

Chilli 2

Chilli2My name is Chilli 2 and I am on my holidays at 18u. I am named after the original Chilli the Chinchilla who is sadly no longer with us.

I enjoy being admired by everyone at the centre from the very young ones to the very old ones like Sandra Hutton.
