Organisations based in the Eighteen And Under centre
Eighteen And Under is an organisation that offers free and confidential support to young people aged 18 and under who have experienced any form of abuse. This can range from bullying to domestic violence and sexual abuse. For more information, visit www.18u.org.uk
Eighteen And Under also runs the award winning Violence Is Preventable (V.I.P) programme in schools, nurseries and senior care homes around the UK. The V.I.P programme is an abuse prevention programme that has been evidenced as the only programme of its type anywhere in the world that has proven success in terms of primary and secondary prevention, meaning that it provides participants with the skills to stay safe, and it can lead to early intervention where abuse is already occurring. Izzy’s Promise is an organisation that offers free and confidential support to survivors of Ritual Abuse and their supporters, the method and support we provide is tailored to meet the individual’s needs. For more information, visit www.izzyspromise.org.uk
18 Plus is a new organisation that has been set up as a support service for older people who are at risk of abuse. It is specifically targeting male survivors of childhood sexual abuse, as there is a lack of services for male survivors. 18 Plus is also involved in outreach work for older members of the community. Different Visions Celebrate (DV8) is a youth group for young people aged 25 and under who have issues with their sexuality, or with the sexuality of a member of their family. It offers a safe and friendly environment where people can meet each other and discuss issues affecting LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) community and their families. Volunteer roles
Support worker – you will offer free, confidential and non-judgmental support to survivors. You will be someone that listens to their issues and problems and will empower them to move forward in their own time. Full training will be given.
Vip worker – you will deliver the vip programme to groups of vulnerable people in various settings such as sheltered accommodation, schools, nurseries etc. you will also record and disclosures of violence made. Full training will be given.
Outreach worker – you will attend meetings on behalf of the organisation to represent the interests of the organisation. You will liaise with other organisations to raise the profile of your organisation.
Awareness raising – you will distribute publicity materials, raise awareness of the services offered by the organisation and help to recruit and train more volunteers.
General office work – You will assist in answering phones, filing, completing publicity mailings and other general admin tasks.
Development work – you will assist in the development of the organisation including helping to create publicity materials, policies, resources etc.
